Doggy bag, anyone? Pet owners brought out their pooches to the “Dine With Your Dog” animal adoption center fundraiser at the PumpHouse restaurant. Volunteers pampered the pets with treats while owners got to dine in style.

BEHIND THE BADGE: His skill set is vast.

He can coax a drunken man to climb down from a precarious perch in a tree and evacuate residents from a burning building as the flames lick overhead.

He has faced murderers, gang members, drug dealers and rapists.

He can negotiate a neighborly dispute over barking dogs and then chase reckless drag racers on North Navarro Street.

It is, after all, just a day’s work for Senior Patrol Officer Josh Robinson with the Victoria Police Department.

But when Robinson clocks out at the end of his 12-hour shift, he said, he needs to use the drive home to shed the stress and become someone else — Dad.

“He (Ochoa) was asleep,” Tommi Turrubiartes said, talking about her husband. “He said he couldn’t get into the room where Orlando was at, so he ran to the outside and broke the windows. But when he broke the windows, the flames came out, and he couldn’t get in. He was screaming and screaming at him but - ” Turrubiartes stopped, unable to finish her sentence.

Orlando Navarro, Turrubiartes’ 12-year-old son, died in a house fire Saturday morning.
